Happy 9th Birthday to my daughter Molly. Every time one of my kids has a birthday I think back to the day they were born and remember it like it was just a few weeks ago. Nine years ago on a Friday night my water broke so I called our mid -wife and she told me things would start happening soon and to go back to sleep and call her back when labor began. Well I fell asleep and didn’t wake up until the next morning. No labor. Hmm that’s strange so all 3 midwives came over checked the baby and had me run laps around the house and up and down the steps while sipping things that tasted like dirt and massaging my breasts. Still no labor. Another good nights sleep and an early morning visit from all three mid wives again. Only this time I had to drink the castor oil. Oh god-I can vomit over it again right now! They massaged my feet with essential oils and told me to get in the bath while they went to lunch. Finally at noon my contractions started and Molly was born at home around 4:30 that afternoon. One of my favorite memories about that day is sitting on our couch that evening eating chinese food and watching the Sunday night Disney movie with my husband and then 4 year old son! Homebirth doesn’t get much better than that.
So today we did a little of this:
Jake made dinner and a cake for Mollys birthday.
This is a really fun activity! After reading the book I spread out a sheet on the floor and plug in the air pop popcorn popper, with out the lid. Sit back a little ways, you don’t want to get burned by the hot kernals. Now watch the popcorn pop all over and then eat it up, (wishing that somehow the salt would stick-hint if you lick it first and then rub it in the salt it will stick!). I bought an air popper at a thrift store for a dollar. They seem to have lots of them.
Then we did alot of this:
It snowed all day here and we are expected to get several more inches tonight and tomorrow. I love the snow. If it is going to be winter, we should have lots of snow to play in. The only bad part of the snow storm is the fact that Molly has her birthday party planned tomorrow, complete with a trip to a pool for indoor swimming. We may be sledding instead, as most things will surely be closed tomorrow!
And finally we did some of this:
Singing “Oh Happy Day” really loud!!
I will try to post the photos again later.
