Naked, Green, Purls

WOW! Thanks to everyone who read my interview. This is really exciting! Although, I do feel a bit naked out in cyber space-it has been a great experience. If you have any burning questions be sure to ask. I will take a day this week and answer questions that readers left in comments here at Pepper Paints and at The Artful Parent.

Now on to todays green activity
First we painted

Then we glued down lots of green stuff..with green glue of course! Just add food coloring to the glue. Also, I like to think about how I present the materials to work with. It looks more inviting when sorted and seperated into different containers. I love this thrifted silverware sorter just for this purpose. Although I must admit depending on the project, I think sometimes its the thrill of the hunt for Molly to dig through a pile of materials to find her treasures.

OOOOOoooooo, beauti-full green! I love it!

We used to take the kids down to Yellow Springs just to hang out. Glen Helen is a neat place to hike (natural springs amok) and also there is a creek pond with falls to swim back there.

Cool article about the knit tree thingie.

Congrats on the interview. I’ll have to go read that now.

I enjoyed reading your interview over at The Artful Parent. I find the unschooling trend interesting and I think if I had more than one child, I might give it a go. There is certainly a lot to be learned out and about and the field trips could be endless. When I mentioned to friends, that I would have no problem taking my child out of school to travel around Europe, they were appalled. I wonder why? Thanks for the teaching inspiration and I will continue to teach where I think schooling fails.

***Traveling around Europe would be a wonderful experience! Hands on learning is so much better-you could read about anyplace but to actually physically be there and experience it first hand would stay with you for a life time. Thanks for checking out my blog.

I’m glad I went back and read the interview…I don’t get inspired easily but this year I’m making a herculean effort to bring more art/craft into my daughter’s life and I LOVED how you strewn things about the house that could lead to possible exploration by your kids…I’m going to be stealing…ahem…borrowing that idea. Already I’ve been inspired to do some things…my daughter got a magician’s apprentice type book and wanted a robe like the characters in the book…guess who will be attempting to sew a basic robe and then letting her decorating by gluing things on it? ME!LOL Ok…off to “strategically” place some things!

***Oh, I love to strew!! Go right ahead and borrow away. Good luck with your sewing.

Hi - I found your blog from the Artful Parent website. I love the green activity - how cool is the idea of green glue? And I love the goodies all sorted out to pick through. :)

***Thanks for checking out my blog!

I had to check in before I headed off to bed to see what’s going on in your house today. Looks like everyone is having Fun and that Jake got up ok. (So did Tom!)

I had to laugh on the way home thinking of you saying “Jake you know you have to get up for circus tomorrow” I mean, where else are you ever going to hear THAT?

***Don’t be fooled-he also hears “Get up and take the dog out!”, too!!

I must be given the plans for the go cart tank when they figure it out!!! We have been looking to do something similar, but haven’t sat down to figure it out! Our roots and shoots is going to have an “anything that goes” derby making the cars from recycled things and a tank car was our idea!!!

****Cool-I will let you know what they come up with!
