Edible Playdough

To keep my kids busy this morning while I cleaned up the mess from yesterday, we made this:
blog 351

Edible Playdough

2 cups oats
2 cups Peanut Bitter-I used natural PB but stirred it up first
1 cup dry milk-cow or soy
1/3 cup honey

mix all together-I had to mess around with the consistancey so I added a bit of wet milk and a bit more honey. It may be because I used natural peanut butter.

It was sooo tasty. Think no-bakes or granola bars! Keep in mind this was nowhere near as pliable as regular playdough-my kids still made taco’s and pancakes and cut it up with butter knives. And then they ate a whole lot of it!
We have an enamel table to work on, so clean up is easy. You can always put wax paper down to minimize the mess.
We used raisins, cranberries, sun drops, choc. chips, shredded coconut, slivered almonds, banana slices and shredded apples to decorate the creations. Some other things to use are celery sticks, wheat germ, crackers, dry cereal.

Disclaimer, Please Read!!!
1. This recipe contains Peanut butter-if you or your kids are allergic to peanuts don’t make it!
2. If your child is under 1 year-you probably shouldn’t let them play with this
3. This has honey in it-that means NO for kids under 1 yr old.
4. There is milk in this recipe-if there is a dairy allergy don’t use this-or replace with powder soy milk.

Happy Spring!!!!

Wow! Super idea, and healthy too. I will have to try this, my girls love playdough :)

Great idea, people with kids with nut allergies might be able to adapt with sunflower seed butter… love yr blog, found via artful parent.

*****Did you get it to work? There is a test link that was added that should work. Thanks
Kristen

I have made this with Paige, although I haven’t used the oats. And she didn’t seem interested in eating it, so guess who kept munching on it? That was the only problem for me! LOL
I am noticing that I love when things are presented in little muffin tins or such for picking out goodies to include in art/cooking/creating. I’ll have to keep that in mind. :)

yumMEE fun!

Yummy and fun! Too bad my son doesn’t like peanut butter so much. I’ll keep it in mind for when my daughter is a little older though. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that her food preferences are more in line with mine. (Well, except for the over indulging part)
