Blossoms, Money and Balloons

This morning Molly was a bit disappointed to see our amaryllis had dropped two of its blossoms. But don’t worry she found a good use for them!

It may seem strange that my kids have never been to the circus seeing that they are in a circus, but its true. I have issues with animals and the circus. But today we went to The Shriner Circus. It was great that my kids could identify with so much that was going on and could really appreciate all the hard work and practice the performers do. If you are thinking of taking your kids to the Shriner Circus, make sure your wallet is full. There are overpriced everythings, everywhere with tons of old men trying to get you to spend more money. I know it all goes to a good cause but enough is enough allready. Yet, all in all it was a good time.

Here is an activity that we have done many times to rave reviews. Baloon Rockets

you will need tape, string, balloons, straws.
Thread the straw onto string
Tape the string to two objects that are across the room from each other at least 10 feet -walls, chairs.
Blow up balloon and while holding it closed tape it on to the straw with open and at the string end you are on.
Then let go of balloon-the force of the air will propel the rocket forward.

Let your kids take some photos this weekend-see the kids pix post!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, my biggest boy will love the balloon rockets, so much so that I’m not sure I want to show him how to do it :) Thanks for the awesome idea!

Coolest of cool! I love the ballons. Oh god, I need my house back lol

I’ve never taken the younger kids to the circus either, they beg to go, but I feel the same as you about it all. But, you know, what a great experience for your kids to see what the performers can do with all they learn. Did I ever tell you that one of the guys I went to school with went to Circus school and then on to circus “college” in Europe? He is a juggler now, I think he works in Las Vegas. Joel Heidtman. This might be interesting to your kids:

MECHELLE–Great-it will be lots of fun!

KAREN–I am going to check that out. I wonder about the life of a circus performer. I am sure its not very glamerous. I really like Cirque de soliel better than the regular circus.

hi cool stuff kristen

When my brother in law was like 20 or so, he ran off and joined the circus in Canada - for real. He was an MC and has tons of stories about extremely interesting people. It might not be a glamorous life, but it would beat a 9-5 at a dest anyday IMO. So what circus are Jake and Molly in? Is it one we could go see?

MELISSA —my kids are in the Grimaldi Circus http://www.high-jinks.org/kids.html They will be having a performance in May -I will let you know when it is.
One of there teachers is a 3rd generation circus performer. When I mentioned the circus life not being very glamerous I was thinking how expensive everything is when you go to the circus but I bet the performers don’t get paid that well. I bet your brother in law has many stories-I would love to hear them!

Hey Lady! I have not been to the circus in years. I don’t know if I have ever taken Tom or not. I remember taking my oldest when he was about 3 (he’s 35 now so that was a LONG time ago) the in your face sales was what totally turned me off and I never cared to go back. I actually had a confrontation with one guy and he would not back off. (and I was poor back then, with the cost of everything I am getting poor again fast)

I think we are going to go to Ringling Bothers next month. See you soon!
