Under Our Big Top

We have been looking at pictures of Calder’s CIRCUS, but today we found this

How cool is that! We were so inspired we decided to make our own circus.

We decided to make our performers out of foil wrapped in masking tape so that we could paint them. and make outfits for them.
I am frightened by the size of this project. Lucky summer is coming so we can move out to the garage if we need to.
I am hoping this project will be ongoing.

that’s great! there is a video of it , but wasn’t able to find a dvd, and wanted to show to my kids too. looks like you are having fun making your version.

  2. That is awesome. :)

  3. this is my kind of project! :^D)

  4. I love it. I think Calder has one of the most interesting histories as an artist. The way he started as a toy maker and ended up inventing amazing art forms.

  5. Such a wonderful project! I cannot wait for my little one to get involved in such magical things.

  6. Cool!

  7. LORI–I am going to add you to my blogroll :)

ARWEN– I love that Calders parents encouraged his interests at an early age. He is a great, obvious example of an artist that didn’t lose the child in him.

MRS FRENCH–I have an idea book that I write down future projects or ideas or books I want to come back to. That way I don’t forget-it is pretty full!!

CHANIE–Cool I am going to look for the video!
