Garden Girl

DSC_2663

This weeks unplugged project theme is Garden.  I have a book with directions for mosaic stepping stones that I had planned on making today but once I read the directions I realized it was going to be a big project and I didn’t have half of the materials needed so I had to come up with plan b.

At our old house we made a garden fairy that kept a close eye on our veggies.  We hadn’t gotten around to making another one yet, so this weeks theme was all the motivation we needed to put together a new one.     This morning we headed to the thrift store to look for some clothes to adorn our new girl.  And look what Molly came up with!  Isn’t she a beauty???

First I dressed her 1x 2’s and then I carefully nailed her together.  I put a few safety pins in her clothes too.

Molly even picked out some sparkly shoes for her, but I haven’t figured out how to attach them yet.

More garden excitement….

Last week I cut a bunch of dill that was begining to flower and stuck it in a vase.

Today I noticed the water was gross as were the dry,  yellow flowers.  I went to pitch them when I noticed this guy devouring the wilted flowers!

He must have been a tiny guy when I brought him in, not noticing him.  We will put him in a bug home to make his chrysalis and watch him turn into a beautiful painted lady butterfly.

How exciting about the caterpillar. It is amazing how fast they grow! Please post photos of the progress.

She’s beautiful! So is the caterpillar.

I like the photo of the caterpillar :-)
