Today after driving an hour in the wrong direction, enjoying a great Mexican lunch with some new friends, we finally turned the corner on this treasure!
According to Lee’s son, Errol, Louis worked in his rock garden everyday up until just before his death at age 92. Cementing various scratch and dent Chinese dishes, smiling Buddhas, mirrors, ktotchkeys,(I know I spelled that wrong!), vases, toys, rocks and shells just to name a few, into walls, planters, arches and benches and tables. It was such a treat that we were able to talk with Lee’s son. He told us his Dad touched each and every piece that was out there, so it almost felt like we got to spend a little time with Louis Lee too!
