Creepy Faces Part 1

Before I left for vacation we went to our favorite orchard to pick apples.

We made apple sauce, Good Morning Apple Crisp, apple pie and last night, creepy apple faces.

After peeling the apples, the girls used the pumpkin carving knives to cut out eyes and mouths.

Then we placed them on a baking sheet and put them in the oven on the lowest setting for 3 hours.

When we took them out they looked like this

Now we will let them sit in a warm, dry place for a few days, before enhancing them with beans and rice!  Stay tuned for part 2.

    we did this differently when my kids were little but i can’t remember how. Maybe we just let them sit out longer. In which case the oven would be a good idea to speed the process along. :)

    2 things… the first pic is so cute… very country living! And… what are those boots you have on? Very cool!
    oh yes… the apple craft is cool as well!
