Filling In The Blanks

One of the things I love about this time of year is picking out and purchasing a new planner, a 2009 calendar and filling it in. Making lists, organizing and planning. None of my “resolutions” are groundbreaking or new ideas for me. They are things I know full well how to do..it’s just a time of re commitment to some important things that will make me a better me, mom and wife. One of the things that I have let slip away is my diet. And for me, that effects how I feel and all the other aspects of my life. If I don’t feel good, I am crabby…and If I’m crabby everybody is crabby!! There was once a time when I ate mostly all raw foods and exercised daily. I remember how great I felt and how healthy I was..What happened? I can’t exactly say but I know I needed something drastic to get me back to taking better care of myself.

The Master Cleanse

So last night before bed I drank a cup of Smooth Move Tea and this morning I drank a quart of luke warm salt water. Today I will drink lots of water and a lemonade drink with cayenne pepper. My goal is to make it 3 days, if I can make it 5 that would be great! Although one of the things they reccomend is not doing this if you are under stress…my kids are so over tired and over sugared from this long vacation we have been on that I might just…….take a nap and escape today!!

  1. best of luck with your cleanse. i don’t think i could do one – but we’re doing the next best thing.

have you read any books by dr. joel fuhrman? we’re basically following his plan in his book eat to live. it involves lots of salad. and vegetables. and some beans. and nuts.

    fun!

  2. Like there is actually a time when you are not under any sort of stress!!! I, too, have been lacking in the healthy diet department this last month. But the holidays are over and we can get back to our normal routines. Whatever “normal” means!

I’m right on board with you also! I weigh more than I ever have before and I just feel gross. I’ve been reading a lot about raw diets, I’m very intrigued. I would love to be part of a healthy food type co-op or even just a regular get together with healthy foods and recipe ideas. :) If you want to get together for motivation let me know (after your cleanse, of course.)

Oh yes, I feel you on this. I weighed 114 in 2001 and just let me say that in 2008, I don’t. At all, not even close… Ahem.

Good luck on the cleanse, it’s a good way to jumpstart, I bet. Ugh, it’s just too bad that you have to feel so awful.

I’m just cutting down on serving sizes and trying to move more. I had a friend who lost 50 lbs just from walking, so I tried that… and ended up with plantar fasciitis. Getting old isn’t fun at the moment.

    Luck to you! K

  5. Is there a special recipe/instructions you are following for the lemon drink?
I would be interested in finding out more about that.
thank you! I have done the raw diet too and that was the best I had ever felt, but I found it very difficult to follow with 3 kids and a hubby around ;)

  6. I have not read any of his books, but I will check them out next time at at the library. Good luck!!

  7. Lisa-Yeah stress, can’t escape it. Happy 2009

Part of my problem is age too–everything slows down. Welcome 2009!!

If you google Master Cleanse you will find it. There is also a pamphlet you can buy at the bookstore with all the instructions. Everything is harder with 3 kids around!!
