My kids really enjoyed making these. The mixing, stirring, heating, pouring, mixing, stirring etc…..
Step 1..In a pan mix together 1/4 cup of flour, slowly add 1 cup of water and mix until smooth. Heat and stir to thicken. Set aside to cool.
Step2…separate the cooled flour mixture into 4 separate containers (I used baby food jars) and add 3 T powdered tempra and 2 T water to each jar.
Step 3…add 1/2 teaspoon liquid starch for opaque finish or 1/2 teaspoon liquid detergent for a glossy finish.

that is cool. the color turned out great. I love the raw food recipes… I want to do raw but have a hard time.
Powdered Tempra is the color, right? Would this work with food dye, too? Because I have food dye but I have no idea where I’d get powdered Tempra in germany.

Nicole—Powdered tempra is powdered paint. I don’t think food dye would work because the powder colors it and thickens the mixture. Maybe if you make your flour mixture really thick it could work. let me know if you try it! Good luck.

Ooh they look lovely! Much nicer than poster paints. One quick question – sorry, I’m in the UK – what does T mean? As in 3T tempura…tablespoon??!
