Colorful Ice Blocks To Play With Outside

DSC_4210

When we finally had enough empty milk and juice cartons to make blocks I cut the tops off the cartons, the kids dripped various combinations of food coloring into the cartons and we filled them with water and put them outside to freeze.

A couple of days later we peeled the cartons away from the ice blocks…some were frozen a little more solid than others.

The colored water that dripped out made for pretty snow to play in

Now I am back to hording the empty cartons and yogurt containers to make more colorful ice blocks!

It’s amazing how such a simple thing like frozen colorful water can be so beautiful!

These look fun. We did this one year -put a juice can in the middle and added pine boughs and cranberries – they were lovely votives to line the walkway and no worries about leaving them. I never thought of the colors though.

  3. Tracie–I always intend to make those voltives!!

  4. Jennifer—I know–I can’t wait to make more–They look so pretty laying around my back yard!

  5. These are great! :)

  6. Yay! We have a spray bottle full of red water for making colorful snow at the moment. Now we’re just waiting for more of the whitestuff.

  7. Rachel–Yes..WE NEED LOTS MORE WHITE STUFF. If it’s gonna be winter, I want lots of snow. Enough dampness and gloom around here!!

  8. Sunnymama–thanks! Hope you are well!!
