Nothin’

I got nothin’. Not that it wasn’t a fun and creative day but not much to blog home about. Molly volunteered in Ginger’s preschool class today. She had them decorate confetti filled eggs and then hid them for a mini-egg hunt. It was fun I think the kids liked it. Then there was a playdate for the girls while Joe and Jake and I went to an intro to scuba diving lesson. It was really fun, but it definitely seperated the surface snorklers from the scuba divers! My husbands ears would not clear, nor would the spit in his mouth or the water up his nose. So he will be watching me from the surface while I dive down deep on our next exotic vacation. Later I got to meet up with Dawn and her lovely, well behaved children to try to solve my
lame $^& slow computer problems, while Jake went to his break dancing class. He now has a friend spending the night and the girls and the dog are all sleeping peacefully. My poor husband had an emergency service call and had to go out to work and is not back yet. Poor man.
Tomorrow we get to do some baking to bring to a Homeschool Fair at out Rec Center.
So hopefully tomorrow I’ll have something.

I was lucky enough to spend a night away with several other homeschool Moms at a friends cottage. It was so relaxing and rejuvinating! I spent the time chatting, knitting, eating, crocheting, chatting, eating and taking photos. I need to feed my creative soul. It makes me a better Mommy as well as wife and friend.

Following your interests is also good role modeling for our children. It is important for our kids to see us not only taking care of our physical needs but our creative needs too. Our talents and interests are what makes us individuals. When I am able to fill my creative needs, I have so much more to share with my kids. I am inspired and motivated and excited to create with them.
Whether it is dancing, painting, cooking, gardening, writing or any other crafty or artistic oulet–Do something for you-and your family sometime soon!

When Creativity Bites You In The A$$

Most of the crafty and creative activities I do are with my younger daughters. My son isn’t all that interested in “doing art” with us anymore. Not that he is not artistic mind you. He plays the guitar, piano, takes break dancing and hip-hop classes. He is a stilt walking, trapeze swinging, juggling on a drum, creative circus performer. But says, “I hate Art.” I think he means he dislikes formal art. Anyways, we have always nurtured our kids creative side. Encouraged them to try new things and persue their interests. To think outside the box and be individules.

Insert record scratching sound right about here!!!

Tuesday morning Jake removes his hood to show me this:

I was a bit taken aback-to say the least! Really it was more like, “What the @$**?” Not that I am against piercings. I have a nose ring and 4 holes in one of my ears, but not really into my 12 year old son getting one. Let alone doing it himself. Yes, I did say he did it himself. He pierced his own frozen ear with a safety pin he “steralized” by burning it first , after I went to bed Monday night. Can you say infection? Well, hopefully not. He has been cleaning it 3x’s a day. So much for encouraging all those creative ideas.
